Welcome to the home of Cloudy Pass Photography.
My name is Rich Evans. I have been traveling the wild places of the Pacific Northwest for many years, hiking, backpacking, climbing, skiing, and taking pictures. The photographs in this collection are selected from my travels in Washington, Oregon, and the Canadian Rockies.
My subjects range from the glow of larches at an autumn sunrise to the icy sweep of the Blue Glacier flowing down from Mt Olympus, to Mt Shuksan standing cold and austere in a winter night, to a single paintbrush flower rising from a tiny patch of heather on a barren and windswept alpine ridge.
My photographic intent is to represent the diverse nature of the Pacific Northwest and to affirm the wilderness ethos of Henry David Thoreau; "in wildness is the preservation of the world".
